The realm of the paranormal has always fascinated skeptics and believers alike. Adding specially generated ultra sounds didn't matter anyhow. Most of the persons that have undergone the experiment had shared equally surprising results that are somewhat similar. Most have reported the feeling of heaviness and a feeling of foreboding. Such strange feelings were almost meagerly associated when the team of experts had the sounds had been transmitted.

Accurate psychics are regarded as the ultimate source of answers from the unknown, but perhaps with these news developments, they might have new partnerships. Science is advancing slowly but surely. In the future, science might find the answers as well.

Margaret Walker

Biography

Margaret Abigail Walker was born on 7 July 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama. Her parents, the Reverend Sigismund C. Walker, a Methodist minister and an educator, and Marion Dozier Walker, a music teacher, encouraged her to read poetry and philosophy from an early age.

Walker completed her high school education at Gilbert Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana, where her family had moved in 1925. She went on to attend New Orleans University (now Dillard University) for two years. Then, after acclaimed poet Langston Hughes recognized her talent and urged her to seek training in the North, she transferred to Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where she received a B.A. in English in 1935, at the age of nineteen. In 1937, she published "For My People" in Poetry magazine. Her first poem to appear in print, “For My People” became one of her most famous works and was even anthologized in 1941 in The Negro Caravan.

In 1936, Walker took on full-time work with the Federal Writers' Project in Chicago under Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Project Administration, befriending and collaborating with such noted artists as Gwendolyn Brooks, Katherine Dunham, and Frank Yerby. Perhaps the most memorable of these friendships was that with noted author Richard Wright whose texts Walker would later help to research and revise. In 1988, Walker wrote a book recalling that friendship, entitled Richard Wright, Daemonic Genius: A Portrait of the Man, a Critical Look at His Work. Involvement in the Writers' Project offered Walker a firsthand glimpse of the struggles of inner-city African Americans who were products of the Great Migration, a northward movement that had resulted in hard times and broken dreams for many southern black immigrants. During this time, Walker authored an urban novel, "Goose Island," which was never published.

After completing her tenure with the WPA in 1939, Walker returned to school, entering the Creative Writing Program at the University of Iowa, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in 1940 and, later, a Ph.D. in 1965. In 1941, Walker began teaching at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina. In 1942, she left for one year to teach at West Virginia State College. In that year, she also published her first volume of poems, For My People, with the title poem quickly becoming her signature piece and helping elevate her toward success. For this volume, which served as her Master's thesis at Iowa, she won the Yale Younger Poets Award.

In 1943, Walker married Firnist James Alexander, or "Alex," as she lovingly called him, an interior designer and decorator. In 1949, following the birth of their first three children (they had a total of four children), the couple moved to Jackson, Mississippi. Walker began a prosperous teaching career at Jackson State College in the same year, retiring from its English Department thirty years later in 1979. In 1968, she founded the Institute for the Study of History, Life, and Culture of Black People (now the Margaret Walker Alexander National Research Center). She directed the center until her retirement. During her tenure at Jackson State, Walker also organized and chaired the Phillis Wheatley Poetry Festival. Following retirement, she remained active as professor emerita until her death in the fall of 1998.

Jubilee, a neo-slave narrative based on the collected memories of the author’s maternal grandmother, Elvira Ware Dozier, was published in 1966, only a year after Walker completed the first version of it for her dissertation. Many scholars view the novel as an African American response to America's fascination with Gone With the Wind (1936). Others recognize the work as an example of the historic presence that the author commands as a prophet of sorts for her people. The novel has enjoyed tremendous popularity, winning the Houghton Mifflin Literary Award (1968), having been translated into seven languages, and having never gone out of print. It has also led the author into controversy: in 1988, Walker found herself in conflict with the famed author of Roots, Alex Haley, whom she accused of infringing on her copyright of Jubilee. However, her lawsuit against him was dismissed. Walker provides further detail regarding the production of the novel in her 1972 essay, "How I Wrote Jubilee."

Walker followed Jubilee with Prophets for a New Day (1970), a poetic treatment of the historic civil rights struggle of blacks in America. It also celebrates the tradition of African American folktales and expression.

Although October Journey (1973) is more personal in tone, it still resonates with Walker's commitment to highlight the black race's struggle for freedom through art. The poems of the collection pay homage to many of Walker’s contemporaries, such as Gwendolyn Brooks and Robert Hayden, who also employed their art as tools of liberation.

Walker's influence on the younger Black Aesthetic poets of the 1960s and 1970s can be seen in her published talks with Nikki Giovanni. Appearing in 1974, A Poetic Equation: Conversations between Nikki Giovanni and Margaret Walker exemplifies the common concern for justice that linked the two artists and bridged their generations.

ForFarish Street Green, Walker’s fourth poetry volume, appeared in 1986. Pieces in this collection reflect life in the Farish Street community in Jackson, Mississippi. Walker begins her portrait of the people in the neighborhood by making their lives testaments to those of their African ancestors.

This Is My Century: New and Collected Poems (1989) chronicles Walker's auspicious literary career while proving that she has unrivaled tenacity and endurance as a poet. In 1990, she revised and re-published How I Wrote Jubilee and Other Essays on Life and Literature, coauthored with scholar Maryemma Graham. In 1997, with Graham as editor again, Walker released another collection of previously written essays, entitled On Being Female, Black, and Free: Essays by Margaret Walker, 1932-1992. Several other projects remained incomplete at the time of Walker’s death, including "God Touched My Life," a biography of Sister Thea Bowman, a black nun in Mississippi; "Black-Eyed Susans," an account of the murders of two students at Jackson State College; a book on Jesse Jackson's relationship to black politics; and an autobiography.

Among Walker's numerous accolades are six honorary degrees, a Rosenwald Fellowship (1944), a Ford Fellowship (1953), a Fulbright Fellowship to Norway (1971), a senior fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities (1972), the Living Legacy Award, given by the Carter administration, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the College Language Association (1992), and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Arts, presented by William Winter, then governor of Mississippi (1992).

Walker has been compared to many great writers and has claimed, as personal acquaintances and influences, the likes of James Weldon Johnson, Langston Hughes, and Gwendolyn Brooks. Longevity was Walker’s friend, and, over the course of her career, she earned a place among the best (African) American poets, many of whom were her protégés.

"For My People," the title poem in the author's first volume is a timeless piece. The poem poignantly describes the joys, heartaches, and triumphs of African Americans in the United States. Written in free verse, the poem chronicles the everyday and often mundane aspects of hard labor and the simple pleasures of a dispossessed people. Yet it also makes blacks complicit in their own misery and calls for a new day, a revolution of the masses.

The opening stanzas of Walker's poem ring with a particularly lyrical note. She establishes from the beginning a pattern of overflowing participles unpunctuated with requisite commas, leaving the reader almost breathless. Perhaps that is the sense the author wishes to convey: a ceaseless and tiring existence that has come to wear down even the most resilient of black folk, inviting readers to feel the utter futility of "her people" who are "praying their prayers nightly to an / unknown god, bending their knees humbly to an / unseen power." Likewise, we feel the ambivalence of their lives, alternately manifesting burden and exultation, as Walker describes them singing "their dirges and their ditties and their blues / and jubilees." Not only do we hear the songs being sung, but we also toil literally with those who are constantly "plowing digging planting pruning patching / dragging along never gaining never reaping never / knowing and never understanding." The cadence and the rhythm of the author’s words make this shared experience possible.

“For My People” also celebrates ordinary black life. She recalls the pleasures of "Alabama backyards" where children played "store and hair and Miss / Choomby and company." She highlights the joys of urban blacks, too, on whom she spies as they throng streets like "Lennox Avenue in New York and Rampart Street in New / Orleans." Yet the author also chastises blacks for their complacency and for hiding themselves, as she states, "in the dark of churches and schools . . . and councils and committees," allowing themselves to be "preyed on by facile force of state and fad and novelty."

But, finally, Walker envisions the creation of a more egalitarian society--a society that she hopes will "hold all the people, / all the faces, all the adams and eves and their countless / generations." She calls for a new order and offers a fantastic vision of freedom:

Let a new earth rise. Let another world be born. Let a
bloody peace be written in the sky. Let a second
generation full of courage issue forth; let a people
loving freedom come to growth. Let a beauty full of
healing and a strength of final clenching be the pulsing
in our spirits and our blood. Let the martial songs be
written, let the dirges disappear. Let a race of men now
rise and take control. 

"We Have Been Believers," another poem from Walker's first collection, follows the free verse form of the title poem, as do many pieces in the book. It is a poem about the sustaining power of African American belief, whether it be in "the black gods of an old / land," "the white gods of a new land," or the "conjure of the humble / and the faithful and the pure." Walker recognizes that such faith fosters the race's survival. She says, "Neither the slavers' whip nor the lynchers' rope nor the / bayonet could kill our black belief." Yet she also criticizes how belief in "greedy grinning gods" has taxed "our wills" and encouraged "our spirits of pain."

Her final call, however, is not a plea for tolerance and forgiveness; rather it is an exhortation for protest. She admits a need for answers and "molten truths" but also enjoins her people to seize the power needed for spiritual, emotional, and political transformation:

We have been believers believing in our burdens and our
demigods too long. Now the needy no longer weep and
pray; the long-suffering arise, and our fists bleed
against the bars with a strange insistency.

"Sorrow Home," found also in For My People, is probably Walker's own response to an earlier piece in the collection called "Dark Blood" (the first poem included in this archive). While "Dark Blood" chronicles the ancestral homelands of African diasporal peoples, "Sorrow Home" establishes the southern United States as the native residence of African Americans.

Initially assuming a proud and celebratory tone, the author boasts that her "roots are deep" in southern culture, "deeper than John Brown / or Nat Turner or Robert Lee." "Warm skies and gulf blue streams are in my blood," she proclaims. She denounces the North, scoffing at "steam-heated flats" and "the music of El and subway," refusing to be "walled in / by steel and wood and brick far from the sky."

Walker’s pride in the South proves tongue-in-cheek, however. The "restless music" of the Southland, a "melody beating in [her] bone and / blood," prevents her from revisiting or reuniting with her birthplace. The irony of her beloved "sorrow home," is that the "Klan of hate, the hounds and / the chain gangs keep [her] from [her] own." Walker indicts the South, with its racist attitudes and practices, for being a place that rejects even its native daughter.

"I Want to Write," from October Journey, expresses the deepest desire of the author to record the experiences of African Americans. A true lyricist, she seeks to capture their dreams, emotions, and very being through her poetry. "I want to write the songs of my people," she says. "I want to frame their dreams into words; their souls into / notes." Here, Walker intends to articulate that which is culturally universal--both apparent and clandestine qualities of which her readers may or may not be otherwise aware. What translates is a specific, unparalleled beauty and vibrancy: "a mirrored pool of brilliance in the dawn."

"Ballad of the Hoppy-Toad," included in Prophets for a New Day, signifies upon the folk and conjure tales that were integral to African American oral expression and that served as the cornerstones for subsequent literary expression. Such tales served as art forms, as entertainment, and as tools for inverting the oppressive and racist powers of majority rule. In Walker's ballad, "Sally Jones" running down the road "with a razor at her throat" and "Deacon's daughter lurching / Like a drunken alley goat" are merely background characters for the real drama of the poem. When the goopher man (a conjurer or root worker) "[throws] dust around [the narrator's] door," she seeks the help of Sis Avery. Sis Avery advises, "Now honey go on back / I knows just what will hex him / And that old goopher sack." When the goopher man sends a horse to run down the speaker, Sis Avery grabs the horse, which turns into a toad. The goopher man hollers to her, "Don't kill that hoppy-toad." Says Sis Avery, "Honey, / You bout to lose your load." As the toad dies, so does the goopher man.

The ballad is an enjoyable read in itself, yet it also shows Walker's versatility as a writer and her deep connection with the culture. Walker rises to the challenge of reproducing in print the wit and vibrancy of African American oral storytelling, without the benefit of facial expression, vocal intonation and inflection, and gestures--skills hard enough to master for an oral performance but even more difficult to render on paper. The author also makes the culture of conjuring accessible and understandable to readers. Clearly, Walker has demonstrated considerable prowess in reproducing these forms.

"Love Song for Alex, 1979" is a tribute to the author's husband. The new poems in This Is My Century, where this poem debuted, recall and comment on events occurring over the decades of the twentieth century. In this poem, as in countless others, Walker maintains beautiful control over the language, molding it to serve her purpose. She describes Alex in the first line as her "monkey-wrench man," her "sweet patootie." Her dedication to him rings clear as she asserts, "My heart belongs to him and to him only." She expresses a lifetime of joy, claiming that "all [her] days of Happiness and wonder / are cradled in his arms and eyes entire." She leaves her readers with a sense of her life's fullness and completeness, reassuring us that the days spent with her husband have formed a "yarn of memories," weaving a tapestry of love.

During Walker's final public appearance on October 17, 1998, at the Gwendolyn Brooks Writers' Conference at Chicago State University, she was inducted into the African American Literary Hall of Fame. On November 30, 1998, after suffering for some time with breast cancer, Margaret Abigail Walker died at the age of 83 in the Chicago home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Elizabeth Alexander Coleman. Walker is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Walker continued to write, tour, lecture, and give readings until her death. Among the most formidable literary voices to emerge in the twentieth century, she will be remembered as one of the foremost transcribers of African American heritage. Indeed, she enjoyed a long and fruitful career--one that spanned almost an entire century. As a result, she became a historian for a race. Through her work, she "[sang] a song for [her] people," capturing their symbolic quest for liberation. When asked how she viewed her work, she responded, "The body of my work . . . springs from my interest in a historical point of view that is central to the development of black people as we approach the twenty-first century."

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

In the beautiful hymn entitled, "O Sacred Head," the final verse ends with this plea: "Lord, let me never, never, outlive my love to thee." To this sentiment we want to add one other: "Lord, let me never, never, die until the next generation knoweth thee!"

Lord God Almighty, the great I AM, help me and those in my generation to pass on an appreciation of your power and glory to those who come after us. Bless your Church's future with many more continuous generations of faith after me or until that day you send your Son to bring your people home. In the name of my coming Lord, Jesus Christ, I pray. A cat dies and goes to Heaven. God meets him at the gate and says, 'You've been a good cat all of these years. Anything you desire is yours, all you have to do is ask.'

The cats says, 'Well, I lived all my life with a poor family on a farm and had to sleep on hardwood floors.' God says, 'Say no more.' And instantly, a fluffy pillow appears. A few days later, 6 mice are killed in a tragic accident and they go to Heaven. God meets them at the gate with the same offer that He made the cat.

The mice said, 'All our lives we've had to run. We've been chased by cats, dogs and even women with brooms. If we could only have a pair of roller skates, we wouldn't have to run anymore.' God says, 'Say no more.' And instantly, each mouse is fitted with a beautiful pair of tiny roller skates.

About a week later, God decides to check and see how the cat is doing. The cat is sound asleep on his new pillow. God gently wakes him and asks,

'How are you doing? Are you happy here?'

The cat yawns and stretches and says, 'Oh, I've never been happier in my life. And those Meals on Wheels you've been sending over are the best.

Redistribution of wealth on steroids. How long can this go on? Soon there will be two people collecting “free money” from the government for every one person paying in to the government. I don’t know about you, but I consider what I earn by the sweat of my brow to be mine. If you want some, you work too – but don’t take that which is mine from me by force to give to someone else!
11. Government crackdown on small farms and farmer’s markets. Why? Because large agro businesses see small farmers, backyard gardeners, and organic food producers as a threat. Soon you won’t be allowed to grow tomatoes at home or sell your pickles at the the local craft fair.

The list goes on and on.

What it boils down to is this: WAKE UP AMERICA! We are no longer the most Free country on earth. large corporations have taken over the US Government – in fact, the United States of America is now a Marxist state.

We can’t even imagine what Amy Winehouse’s parents are going through right now.

After the loss of their daughter on Saturday, her parents Janis and Mitch Winehouse are finally speaking out.

After seeing her just 24 hours before her passing, a heartbroken Janis said that her daughter’s death was “only a matter of time.” She added:

“She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me.

They are the words I will always treasure. I’m glad I saw her when I did.”

Meanwhile, her father Mitch didn’t hear of the devastating news until he landed in NYC after a flight from London. After hearing of the news, he said:

“I’m getting the next plane back. I’m coming home. I have to be with Amy. I can’t crack up for her sake. My family need me. I’m devastated, it’s such a shock.”

More details have emerged such as what a neighbor said when she heard noises coming from Amy’s home on Saturday afternoon. She said:

“At about 3:30am I heard crying from next door… terrible crying like somebody mourning. The ambulances and police cars arrived shortly after that.”

Even though autopsy results have yet to be completed, friends did say that over the past couple of days, they believe Amy was on a path of self-destruction with wild drinking binges around Camden, North London.

According to them, they think that Amy died from a “bad” ecstasy pill combined with huge amounts of alcohol. She also suffered from emphysema.

Amy’s bodyguard Ray Grange was said to be the one who found Amy. She was considered to be “beyond help” by the time ambulance crews and police arrived.

As for her funeral, sources say that it could possibly even occur today.

So very sad. Our hearts go out to Amy’s family. We hope she is finally at peace.

The last time Amy Winehouse took the stage was just three days ago . . .  On Wednesday night, Amy’s goddaughter/protege Dionne Bromfield performed at the iTunes Festival and she took the stage with her. She refused to join in for Mama Said, but did support the 14-year-old with a few dance moves before urging the crowd to buy Dionne’s new album Good For The Soul. Say what you want about her personal life but she was a true gift to music. Sad.

Amy Winehouse Joins Unfortunate “27 Club”

Amazingly, or maybe not so amazingly, Amy Winehouse joins an unfortunate “club” of famous musicians who died at age 27, including Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain. Cobain’s mother even reportedly said once to her son, “Don’t join that stupid club” before he committed suicide at age 27. An independently published book distributed by Random House titled, The 27s: The Greatest Myth of Rock & Roll detailed the phenomenon.

Winehouse’s death is so new that hers hasn’t even yet been added to the Wikipedia entry for the 27 Club. I suspect by the time you click on this, that will have changed.

 

Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her North London home, Sky News is reporting. Nick Buckley of the Sunday Mirror News reports that police have confirmed the passing.

The Grammy-winning singer, best known for her hit song, “Rehab,” died of an apparent drug overdose. She’s battled drug addiction for years, having most recently checked back into rehabilitation in May.

The police issued a statement to the BBC saying that a 27-year-old woman was found dead in Amy Winehouse’s house at a little after 4pm today.

“Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”

This is so unbelievably devastating on so many levels. She truly was such a talent.

Our sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.

We have a fountain of love which was purchased for us by Jesus on the cross of Calvary. It is free to us but it cost Jesus everything; His very life. He shed His precious blood for us on the cross so that we might have eternal life and live with Him in Heaven for all eternity. What love and compassion flowed from the heart of our Saviour the day that He hung on that cruel cross for us. He who had never sinned took all of our sins on Him because He loves us so much.

That same love and compassion flows from His heart for us today. We sing about the love of Jesus; we preach about it; and we write about it but I don’t think any of us really understand or have grasped in our hearts the depths of the love of Jesus for us. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords willingly died on a cross of horror and agony for us. He was beaten beyond recognition. He was spat upon and cursed. They ridiculed Him and mocked Him.

Think about it, the Saviour of the world endured all of that pain for you. That’s how much He loves you. I receive a lot of emails from people who ask me how Jesus could love them when they have done so many terrible things. The answer is because He is Jesus! He not only is the definition of unconditional love and gives us unconditional love; He is unconditional love. There is no one like Jesus! No one loves you like Jesus love you.

We know that He loves us. The question we must ask ourselves is “How much do I love Him and how much am I willing to give up for Him and do for Him?” Remember, the level of our service to Jesus depends on our level of love for Him. Let me repeat this because it is so important. The level of our service to Jesus depends on our level of love for Him. How much do you love Him? How much are you willing to give Him and how much are you willing to do for Him?

Do you love Him enough to shut off the television and call people and go visit them and tell them how much Jesus loves them? How many emails have you sent telling people that Jesus loves them? Are you willing to get out of your comfort zone and spread the good news of a risen Saviour? Jesus left His comfort zone in Heaven and came to earth to give His life for us. Are you willing to spend the rest of your life in service to the fountain of love, the Lord Jesus Christ?

Janet Jackson kommer från en av amerikas mest fram-

Den 23 april 2001 släppte sångerskan sitt nya album "All For You". Nu är världsstjärnan aktuell med sin tredje singel "Son of a Gun" från den nya skivan.

Janet Damita Jo Jackson föddes den 16 maj 1966 i Gary, Indi-
ana. Janet var yngst i syskonskaran Jackson som bestod av nio barn. När Janet var fyra år flyttade familjen till Los Angeles. Fem år senare uppträdde sångerskan som nioåring i det amerikanska tv-programmet Good Times (1977-79), där hon spelade rollfiguren Penny. Hon var även med i Diff'rent Strokes (1981-82). Redan här kan man se Janets många talanger — hon sjunger, skriver sina egna låtar och agerar som skådespelerska. Vid denna tid skrev hon också skivkontrakt med A&M Records.

 

Under 1982 spelade hon in sitt debutalbum "Janet Jackson". Skivan var inte dålig för en sextonåring. Hon uppvisade helt klart talang. Men hon hade ännu inte funnit sin egen stil - det skulle dröja till skivan "Control". Janet turnerade nu runt om i USA, uppträdde på gymnasieskolor och uppmanade eleverna att forsätta med sina studier. Under 1983 fick Janet rollen som Cleo Hewitt i den populära TV-serien Fame, som utspelas i musikskolan High School for the Performing Arts i New York. Hon spelade med i serien under flera års tid.

Därefter kom uppföljaren "Dream Street" (1984). Skivan sålde rätt bra, men den var ändå ingen större succé. När Janet Jackson var 18 år rymde hon med sångaren James DeBarge och gifte sig. Britney Spears har sagt att hon gärna skulle kunna tänka sig att sjunga en duett med Janet. Hur det blir med den saken är dock ännu så länge oklart.

Janet Jackson är först ut av artister på MTVs satsning "mtvICON", där kända artister hedras för sina musikinsatser med ett eget inslag. Programmet kommer att bjuda på intervjuer, Janet kommer att uppträda och samtala med artister som har påverkat henne som artist. Inspelning kommer att börja den 10 mars på Sony Pictures Studios i Culver City, Los Angeles.

Janet beger sig ut på världsturné. Turnén har premiär i Kanada
5 juli och kommer att nå, USA, Europa, Japan och eventuellt även Latinamerika och Afrika.

Michael Jackson är en av världens mest kända artister. Nämn hans namn och alla vet vem det är frågan om. Han började som barnstjärna i Jackson 5 och som soloartist blev Jackson megastor med albumet "Thriller", som är världens mest sålda. Popartistens album "Invincible" släpptes i oktober 2002.
Michael Jackson föddes den 29 augusti 1958 i Gary, Indiana. Han har nio syskon. Under hans pappas ledning, bildades succébandet The Jackson 5.
   Medlemmar i bandet var Michael (som var fem år när de startade barngruppen) samt hans bröder Jermaine, Jackie, Tito och Marl-
on, som alla var äldre än honom själv. Deras pappa drillade söner-
na stenhårt år efter år. Han ville nämligen att hans barn skulle bli stora stjärnor. Till slut blev de också det. Men man kan fråga sig till vilket pris. Joseph Jackson berövade dem deras barndom och han höll sig med en mycket hård, stundom brutal, disciplin.
   Men det gick hursomhelst bra för the Jackson 5. De började med att ställa upp i olika lokala talangtävlingar och fick snart kontrakt med Motown. Gruppens fyra första singlar: "I want you back", "ABC", "The love you save" och "I'll be there" blev Billboard-ettor.
   Under sjuttiotalet skrev och framförde barngruppen ett flertal minnesvärda topp10-låtar. År 1975 skrev de kontrakt med Epic Records som The Jacksons. Jermaine hade nu ersatts av Randy.
   Nu tog också Michaels solokarriär fart. Det var hans skivbolag som gärna såg att stjärnan spelade in eget material, eftersom de var säkra på att han var en artist på uppgåtgående.
   1972 gavs hans första solosingel ut. Den hette "Got to be there". Fler singlar följde. Bland annat "Rockin Robin" och "Ben" samt ett soloalbum för skivbolaget Motown. Parallellt med denna karriär fortsatte han att fronta bandet.
   I slutet av sjuttiotalet var popsångaren också med i filmen "The Wiz" (1978) med Diana Ross. Det var nu inget speciellt med den filmen. Men den gjorde att Michael Jackson i kontakt med produ-
centen Quincy Jones. Det var en bekantskap som komma att bli mycket viktig för hans karriär.
   1979 började Michael och Quincy att spela in det minnesvärda albumet "Off The Wall"(1979). Sedan följde ytterligare två album där de samarbetade: "Thriller" (1982) och "Bad" (1987).

Genom albumet "Off the Wall" (1979), blev barnstjärnan en vuxen megastjärna. Dansplattan bjöd på hitlåtar som till exempel "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" och "Rock With You". Skivan såldes i 16 miljoner exemplar (då bäst säljande albumet i CBS historia!).
   Framgången visste nu inga gränser för Michael Jackson. Men bättre skulle det bli. 1982 kom hans album "Thriller" ut, hans mest kända och sålda, ett album som han knappast kan överträffa själv. albumet har sålts i 51 miljoner exemplar och belönats med flera Grammys. I 37 veckor låg albumet etta på Billboardlistan!
   Med hjälp av musikvideor, där Michael har varit en stor pionjär, blev genomslagskraften ännu större. Musiken i kombination med popartistens dansnummer och scennärvaro var oslagbar.
   Michael Jackson var vid den här tiden en enmansnöjesindustri av kolossalformat. Han blev också den första svarta artist som spel-
ades på MTV och därigenom öppnades dörren för många andra begåvade svarta musiker.
   1985 skrev Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie låten "We are the world" som sjöngs av Harry Belafonte och andra svarta musiker i en uppmärksammad välgörenhetskonsert till förmån för svältande i Afrika. Den belönades med fyra grammisar (1986). Höjdpunkten i Jacksons karriär nåddes här: världsstjärnan spelade i en division helt för sig själv under denna tid.
   Michael Jacksons album "Bad" (1987) och "Dangerous" (1991) toppade Billboardlistan. Men videon till singeln "Black and White" innehöll en del scener som gjorde folk betänksamma. Även hans utseende förändrades under denna tid, beroende på att att han gjorde ansiktslyftningar.
   Det började gå rykten om storstjärnans udda vanor, att han var bisarr (sov i ett syretält och höll sig med modelldockor) samt hade börjat umgås med barn. Det ryktades också att han var bög. En negativ bild av artisten började uppmålas i massmedia och Michael började kallas för freak, en stämpel som det sedan dess varit svårt för världsstjärnan att få bort.
   Men artisten sålde fortfarande mycket skivor. "Bad" har sålts i 25 miljoner exemplar och "Dangerous" i 27 miljoner exemplar (un-
gefärliga siffror). Folk kunde ha synpunkter på personen Michael Jackson. Men Jacksons framgång som artist var fortfarande odis-
kutabel.

I början av 90-talet skrev Michael Jackson ett skivkontrakt med Sony Music. Det gav honom hela 890 miljoner dollar.
   År 1993 gav Michael Jackson sin första intervju, något som han tidigare vägrat göra. Artisten ställde upp i Oprah Winfreys talk-
show (den mest sedda Oprah-intervjun!). Jackson ville med detta bemöta de rykten som florerade om honom i massmedia (syrgas-
tält, hans vita hy) och ge sin egen syn på saken.
   I slutet av 1993 blev superstjärnan anklagad för att ha antastat det trettonåriga barnet Jordy Chandler. Den anklagelsen är nog ogrundad, för han bryr sig verkligen om barn och deras välgång - inte minst beroende på den svåra uppväxt han själv fått. Det civ-
ilrättsliga målet mot Jackson lades senare ned.

   Men händelsen var förödande för Michaels rykte som redan var solkat. Artistens image var skadad. Folk betraktade honom nu med skepsis och äcklades till med av honom. Och det fick följder. Han förlorade till exempel sitt kontrakt med Pepsi som han haft sedan 80-talet. Han ställde också in planerade turnéer.
   Annat har det också pratats om. Bland annat hans plastikope-
rationer som dess värre har vanställt artistens ansikte. Michael Jackson blev i allt högre grad en ifrågasatt person som folk hade bestämda åsikter om.
   Under 1994 gifte sig Michael Jackson med Lisa Marie Presley (Elvis dotter). Många ansåg att detta var ett sätt att reparera hans skadade rykte. De var dock bara tillsammans i arton månader. 1995 kom artistens album "HIStory" ut. Samlingsplattan sålde visserligen bra (17 miljoner exemplar). Men inte så bra som vissa andra album Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, hitmakaren Dallas Austin, David Foster och R. Kelly.

   I november 1996 var det dags för giftermål igen. Den här gången med Deborah Rowe - en assistent till en dermatolog (hudläkare) som Michael besökte. Paret gifte sig i Australien när Deborah redan var gravid. Deras förstfödda barn döptes till Prince Michael Jun-
ior (1997). Parets andra barn kom nästföljande år och döptes till Paris Michael Katherine.
   Ännu ett album följde - "Blood on the Dance Floor". Plattan bjuder på remixer med också en del nytt låtmaterial.

Michael Jackson är den ende artist som varit framgångsrik i hela världen under trettio år. Han är den mest sålda artisten någonsin och den mest prisbelönta. Något som över 200 miljoner sålda album och tretton listettor som soloartist vittnar om.
   Sen får man heller inte glömma bort att Jackson är den stjärna som skänkt mest pengar till välgörande ändamål i världen.
   Världsstjärnans album - som han till stor del skriver själv - har varit omvälvande och nyskapande och har betytt mycket för pop-
musikens utveckling.
   Än har vi inte sett det sista av denne store artist. Albumet "Invincible" släpptes den 29 oktober internationellt och den 30 oktober i USA genom Epic Records. Första singel ut blev "You Rock My World".
   I september 2002 gav Michael Jackson en jubileumskonsert i New York. Sångaren firade 30 år som artist med en återförening med bröderna i Jackson 5 samt en rad världsstjärnor.
