A BORING MESSAGE THAT SHOULD GET YOU EXCITED!
INTRODUCTION: In the 1954 Cotton Bowl between the football teams of Rice University and the University of Alabama, Alabama player Tommy Lewis found himself in an awkward position, to say the least. In the first half, he watched from the sidelines as Rice fullback Dick Meagle carried the ball down the field for a sure touchdown. As Meagle ran right in front of the Alabama bench, Tommy Lewis, overcome with excitement, dashed out onto the field and made the surprise tackle--and then ran to find a place to hide!
The next week, Ed Sullivan interviewed this young football player, and asked him, "Tommy, why did you do it?" He replied, "Well, Ed, I guess I just got so full of Alabama that I couldn't help myself." --Source: ESPN films
TRANSITION: Well, we are like Tommy Lewis as well...sometimes we are so full of ourselves that we make a mess out of things. As a matter of fact, that is the root issue for all the world’s problems....we are selfish and we are sinners. We get excited about the wrong things but God has done something to remedy this issue. He sent his Son Jesus.
One of the most fascinating prophetic pictures of Christ and his work in the Old Testament is found in Isaiah 53. These words were penned by a prophet of God hundreds of years before Christ would come, yet these words dipped in the sweet nectar of the Holy Spirit’s inspiration vividly portray Jesus and his redemptive work on Calvary. Listen to these words as I read them.....
TEXT: Isaiah 53: 1 Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
3 He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
TRANSITION: We now know that human history bears out the fact that Isaiah was preaching Jesus Christ and him crucified. These words were more than just some words hidden away in an ancient document, they were words of hope that presented to a sinful world that a sin bearing Savior was on the way. I want to share four truths with you that should get us going the right way. Some think of Christianity has some old boring religion.
Let me share a “boring message” with you that should get you excited. First of all, I want to say that....
1. Jesus Bore Our Sin v5
-The very thing that sent man away from God and to this day holds man away from God is the sin that is embedded in his nature and flows in his veins.
-Folks we all have a sin problem and we all need a sin solution. I am reminded of a little story about ...
Illus- A minister was teaching his confirmation class about the doctrine of sin. "Now tell me," he said, "what are the sins of OMISSION?"
"I think," said one of the girls, "they are the sins we SHOULD have committed, but DIDN'T!" - Source: unknown
-We are all like that little girl without some kind of miraculous intervention.
-Romans 3:23 states we all have sinned. We are all guilty. We are all hopelessly lost without some kind of miraculous rescue.
-Jesus is our rescuer, our Savior. He was sent to save us from our sins. John 3:17
2. Jesus Bore Our Shame v4
-Man left Eden’s garden with his head hanging in shame. He walked away from what God had prepared into an environment under the curse of sin.
-Jesus on the cross, carried our shame and dealt it the death blow. We can now lift up our heads as sons of God. Isaiah says he was smitten and despised.
-He died a shameful death on the cross. Phil. 2:9ff
Illus- A fifth-grade class from Lake Elementary School in Oceanside, California, made headlines when all the boys in the class showed up for school one day with their heads shaved. A mark of rebellion? No—this time the shaved heads were a mark of compassion.
You see, one of the members of that class, Ian O'Gorman, had developed cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Ian's hair had begun to fall out. To make their friend feel less self-conscious, all of his classmates agreed to shave their heads (with their parents' permission).
The teacher was so moved by the spirit of his class that he shaved his head, too.
What are we willing to do in order to ease the pain and suffering of others
(Source: Jim Zabloski, 25 Most Common Problems in Business, Broadman-Holman, 1996, p. 232.)
-Just think of the lengths that Jesus went to in order to share in our suffering and the pain brought on by our sin.
-He bore our shame and now offers to crown us with glory as his very own. Wow what a Savior!
3. Jesus Bore Our Sorrows v4
-Isaiah reminds us in verse 4 that this suffering servant knew about sorrow and grief. You can be assured today, that Jesus is the friend of sinners and he knows what is like to be stricken with grief and under a load of sorrow. Sorrow in of itself is rooted in this sin stricken world. It is sin that brings death and it is death that brings sorrow in all its many forms. The death of a loved one, the death of a marriage, the death of a career, the death of a relationship.....all these things happen because the world is under the curse of sin.
-But our might Savior Jesus has crushed the power of the curse and brings to us and everlasting hope that enables us to see beyond the veil of death and to see beyond these temporary sorrows. He is our hope giving Savior that cares like no other.
-In Hebrews 4:13-16 we are told he is touched with the feelings of our infirmities and we are invited to come to the throneroom of grace to receive grace and mercy in our time of need. He bore our sorrows and now offers us his joy.
4. Jesus Bore Our Sickness v5
-Theologians wrangle over whether the healing his stripes bring is spiritual or physical. Ah, dear friends, all healing comes from God. We must not limit the power of what Christ has done.
-If we believe that his death broke the power of sin and death, then ultimately that means it can provide breakthrough in all areas affected by the curse.
Illus- Did you hear about the inscription on the tombstone of a hypochondriac? It read, "NOW will you believe that I'm sick?"
The Bible teaches that all humans are "sick"—because of the effects of sin. Only the grace of God can make us well. -Source: unknown
We all really are sick to the core without Jesus...why? Because of sin. And he really is the only healer.
-I have chosen to believe God for healing for whatever the need may be: spiritual, physical, emotional, relational....He is able! I admit I do not know all the answers related to the matter, but I have found that it is better to ask and to go to God with everything. I have decided I will not spend my time trying to convince people they should not believe God to heal them...this is folly. I want to encourage the sick soul to look to Jesus to receive healing and strength. I want to encourage those suffering in hospitals that God loves them and does heal people. I do not offer anyone a false hope when I encourage them to trust God with their prayers and with the answers. We are clearly told in Scripture to pray for one another that we may be healed. Our part is to pray and God’s part is to answer as it pleases Him. I thank God for the times it has pleased Him to heal in response to prayer.
Conclusion: Jesus bore our sin, our shame, our sorrow and our sickness, but the message about all this is not boring....it is exciting. Wow, what a Savior we have! Do you know him? Do you want to know him? Why wouldn’t you want to know this One who had done all this for you?
Are you here today ---
Struggling with sin....come to Jesus!
Struggling with shame....come to Jesus!
Struggling with sorrow....come to Jesus!
Struggling with sickness....come to Jesus!

Have You Considered Speed Reading?
Why Read Faster?
A while ago, I realized that as much as I love to read books on business, marketing, and my various hobbies and interests, it can take up a lot of time–time that I could be spending implementing the things I learned from the last book.
I've been a rabid reader for as long as I can remember, and I can and have sat with a book in front of me all day long (much to my wife’s chagrin).
In the last year, I’ve tried to get in the habit of putting off reading anything until it is time to do it, and then rapidly consuming a healthy yet limited amount of targeted information on that key topic as I can, and compiling it all into some kind of action plan.
This tends to get me better results, and when I need them, than just reading anything and everything.
This means that if you're planning on doing some Pay Per Click Marketing and want to manage your campaigns. You would probably be wise to get 3-5 books, ebooks, or courses on how to do that, then give yourself a week or two MAX to study them and figure out how to work what you learn into your existing projects and goals.
Then get started, and don't read any more 'till you've made some money. This works for a lot of people as a good balance between learning and earning.
Anyway, when you consider that some of your reading is actually time spent working on your business (because if you didn’t have a business you wouldn’t be reading business books, right?) then it makes sense to see how you can accomplish more in less time. One way to do this is through speed reading.
Alan's experience with speed reading
I know a guy named Alan who, while in college, learned how to read twice as fast without reducing comprehension.
He got the idea when he overheard classmates complaining about how much time it took to study each week. His thought process went as follows...
Even with the promise of reducing your study time by a mere 33% (he calculated that he himself was spending 3 hours per day reading textbooks, which would mean saving roughly 20-24 hours per month, enough to get a part-time job and pay his way through school)
His classmates laughed at the idea and said it would never work, but he figured that spending $20 on a book or program with the potential to save a total of 320 hours of studying throughout the remainder of his college experience was a worthwhile investment, especially considering these same classmates were regularly spending commensurate amounts at the drop of a hat on trendy music, grease, and beer.
So he got the program shown above, and it worked for him. I recommend it, though at the same time there may be better books out there. But I at least know that this one works if you apply it.
Anyway, consider how speed-reading could help you:
1) Learn more at a faster rate, and therefore empower you to implement new business strategies faster (and make money sooner, not later)
2) Create more hours each week that you can spend doing things that create revenue, or by not working at all
3) Read quickly and with focus when it’s time to work, then put the book down when it’s time.
NOTE: If it took you longer than 2 minutes to read this, you should have been speed reading:)

Nikolaj II 1894 - 1917
Image via Wikipedia

Atom 95X MountainBoard Review
Have a teen who loves to get active, maybe they're into skateboarding or snowboarding? Then why not buy them a mountainboard? This makes an unusual surprise gift, but one that could lead to hours of fun as they practice boarding on dirt and grass with the entry-level Atom 95X MountainBoard.
Features Of The Atom 95X Mountainboard
* Deck made from maple laminate,
* Entry-level board for teens and adults,
* Weighs 15.5 lbs,
* 43.2 inches in length,
* 34.3 inches from axle to axle,
* F1 bindings designed for smaller feet,
* Grab handle brake,
* 46 grit aluminum oxide grip tape,
* Pre-installed V-brake system.
Why Would You Buy The Atom 95X Mountainboard?
Mountainboarding is a sport that derives from snowboarding, and was designed to help replicate the snowboarding experience on grass and dirt. It's fantastic fun and a great way to get active, and is suitable for children, teens and adults.
The Atom 90X beginners board is designed for both teens and adults, making it a good gift for the older kids. If they are into their sports and activities but have never tried mountainboarding, this could be a good way to help them try something new. It's also a good way to get them outside: they can either practice in dedicated mountainboarding centers, or use natural hills in the area.
If your teen is new to mountainboarding then make sure you buy some protective gear for them at the same time as the Atom 90X. This means a helmet at minimum: it's fine to start with a cycle helmet but you should upgrade to a skateboarding helmet in time. Elbow pads, knee pads, wrist-guards, body armor and protective shorts are also recommended for downhill mountainboarding. You may also want to buy a self-teach manual to help your child get going!
The Atom 90X is a decent mountainboard for beginners, but it does come with some limitations. If you or the gift recipient wants to take things further then upgrading will be essential in the future. For example, it's maneuverability isn't up to the standard of more advanced boards, but it is fast enough to get started with: just make sure you follow the manufacturer care guidelines and take care to use the brakes properly.
In short, this is a good option if you want an affordable mountainboard that's comfortable to use and can get your teen into mountainboarding. As they progress they will no doubt want to make adjustments and eventually move onto a new board, but the Atom 95X is perfect to get them going.

THE NEW BIRTH
TEXT: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, ^ verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." John 3:3-7.
INTRODUCTION- The popular talk concerning the kingdom and how to enter into it, introduced by John the Baptist's ministry.
I. THE NEW BIRTH DEFINED.
Negatively:
1. Not baptism (Gal. 6:15; 1 Cor. 4:15 with 1:14).
2. Not reformation (John 3:6).
Positively:
I. A birth from above—a spiritual quickening (John 3:3-5; 2 Cor. 5:17).
2. The impartation of the divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4).
3. A new and divine impulse (1 John 3:6-9).
II. THE NECESSITY OP THE NEW BIRTH.
1. Universal (John 3:3-5).
2. Sinful condition of man demands it (John3:6).
3. Jesus said it was absolutely necessary (John 3:5-7)
4. The holiness of God demands it (Heb. 12:14).
III. HOW THE NEW BIRTH TAKES PLACE.
1. The divine side:
a) The work of God, through the Holy Spirit (John 1 :12, 13; 3:5; Titus 3:5).
2. The human side: (Cf. John 1:12, with v.13)
a) The acceptance of the gospel message (Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23; 1 Cor. 4:15).
b) The personal acceptance of Jesus Christ (John 1 :12; Gal. 3:26).
IV. THE RESULTS OE THE NEW BIRTH.
1. Godlikeness (Col. 3:10; Eph. 4:24).
2. Victory over sin (1 John 5 -.4; 3 :q) .
3. Righteous living (1 John 2:29).
4. Love towards the brethern (1 John 4:7).
CONCLUSION.
Have you been born again? If not, what then?
Children's Ebooks
Children's ebooks can be a lot of fun for the entire family. Many of today’s most popular authors offer their books to be purchased and downloaded as an ebook.
These ebooks often come with special features and built in links to related material that may be of interest to the reader as well.
If you are reading an ebook about dragons, there might be links within the text that will take you to a website all about dragons. There is much more to children’s ebooks than just this however.
Children's ebooks offer your child a different experience than with your typical paper books. Ebooks can do many things a typical book can't.
They can have sound effects, video clips, activity pages, and much more. It can make a big difference to a child that doesn't have the attention span to sit down and read a normal book.
Many ebooks offer this kind of interactivity and might even come with an audio CD or multimedia CD included. This encourages children of all ages to become involved with different types of literature and can build a lifelong love of books.
A good thing about children's ebooks is that you can get them immediately from the comfort of your own home. You don't have to wait weeks for an ordered book to arrive and you don't have to browse a bookstore which can be a daunting task if you have a younger child.
They also don't get destroyed, lost, spilled on, or chewed up!
Multimedia Ebooks For Children
Though much harder to find than regular ebooks, multimedia ebooks for children can be a lot of fun for children of all ages. A multimedia ebook will have all kinds of cool features a standard ebook will not.
They could have a CD that accompanies them or could be on the CD themselves. These are usually ordered from the Internet instead of downloaded but you can find a few places that will have them available for download.
The difference between a multimedia ebook and a regular ebook is that your child can interact with and sometimes even change the story. This turns passive reading into something much more active.
When you get a multimedia ebook, it will either be on a CD or come as an executable or EXE file. This is because it is more of a program than a document. Many of these ebooks allow multiple people to use them and have an area to input your name.
Some multimedia ebooks will allow your child to have his name or even his picture put into the actual story. This may require some adult assistance but can be a lot of fun.
It can really encourage a young reader to get involved with books if they are a part of the story.
Multimedia ebooks can be more expensive than regular ebooks and can be hard to find as well. Some retailers will have them in the computer software aisle but your best bet is to check with bookstores on the Internet or Ebay.
WHAT PLEASES GOD?
The question of the morning is a very important one.
What pleases God? This has been a question that
has been asked and answered in uncountable ways
for thousands of years.
Greek Mythology was “invented” as a way of
appeasing the gods.
Divinities were the most important element of Greek
religion and much emphasis was placed on pleasing
the Gods in order to live a life free of oppression and
hardship. Like all Pagans, the Greeks believed that
they had to worship and please the Gods in order to
have good fortune. The Greeks participated in a
number of rituals, rites, ceremonies and sacrifices in
order to impress and placate the Gods. Temples,
shrines and statues were erected as a designated
place to offer sacrifices to the Gods.
There are even people sitting here this morning who
are asking “How Do I Please God?” You feel that
nothing you do can please Him or that you can’t do
enough to please Him.
Some would respond to that question by saying, “We
don’t know. No one can know what pleases God. It is
a trial and error proposition.”
But that is not true. The Creator God revealed in the
person of Jesus who lived on earth, died on a cross
and rose again the third day and who is with us in the
person of the Holy Spirit, has told us what it takes to
please Him.
Paul said this in II Corinthians 5:9 “Our aim....to be
well pleasing to Him.” This was in light of the
judgement seat of Christ and indeed, if we are going
to stand before God one day and be judged, it would
be most beneficial to know what pleases Him.
Ever said of someone, “You can never please them.”
Well, that is not said of GOd although in your own
thinking and connotations of ways, it would seem that
way
I. DEfiNE PLEASE.
The Greek word is aresko - to bring pleasure to God’s
heart. To make Him happy, satisfied.
This is not egocentric. God is not up there saying,
“It’s all about ME. Please me.
But instead, man is most fulfilled when he discovers
the purpose for which he was made and it was not to
please yourself.
Romans 15:3 “For even Christ did not please
himself....” You will never find pleasure in seeking
pleasure in yourself, but only in pleasuring God.
II. DEfiNE WHAT DOESN’T PLEASE GOD.
First it would be helpful to know what does not
“please” God.
I could talk about things like Psalm 5:4 “He does not
take pleasure in wickedness.” or Ezk. 18:23 “..has no
pleasure at all that the wicked should die.”
But instead, look at some things that we might
consider positive that God does not take pleasure in.
1. Creation is not God’s pleasure. When God
created everything, He said “it was good,” but never
that He took pleasure in it.
2. Sacrifices and burnt offerings
Malachi 1:10 “no pleasure in those burnt sacrifices..”
In Hebrews 10: 5-7 quotes Psalm 40:6-8 when it says,
“In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin, You had no
pleasure. Behold, I have come to do your will, O
God.”
That’s the reason Jesus came was because God was
never pleased with the sacrifices and burnt offerings
of the Old Testament.
3. Actions of man. Verses 8-9 You have no power in
yourself to please God. “They cannot....” is a moral
impossibility. We are not only totally depraved, but
we are totally disabled.
III. DEfiNE WHAT DOES PLEASE GOD.
Romans 12:1 NIV “...offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy, and pleasing to God...”
A. Walking in the Spirit
1. If you walk in the Spirit, you will “hearing” the Spirit.
In Revelation 2-3, to each of the churches in
Revelation Jesus ends by saying, “He who has an
ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Matthew 7:24 “Whoever hears these sayings of Mine,
and does them...”
Luke 8:8 “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!””
Luke 8:21 “My mother and my brother are these who
hear the Word of God and do it.”
2. If you are hearing the Spirit, you are obeying the
Spirit.
3. If you are obeying the Spirit, you are filled with the
Spirit.
4. If you are filled with the Spirit, you are abounding in
the Word of God.
Ephesians 5:10 NIV “...and find out what pleases the
Lord.”
Colossians 3:20 NKJV “...this is well pleasing to the
Lord.” This is in the context of children obeying
parents.
I John 3:22 “we keep His commandments and do
those things that are pleasing in His sight.”
I believe on the Day of Judgment, a copy of the
Word of God will be there.
All things that pertain to godliness and holiness.
B. Faith in Jesus Christ
Three times in the life of Jesus, a voice from Heaven
spoke of affirmation of Jesus.
Matthew 3:17; 17:5 “This is my beloved Son, in whom
I am well pleased.”
John 12:28 “I have both glorified it and will glorify it
again.”
God said of His Son three times - you are my beloved
Son.
God is well pleased with Jesus. Then in Romans 8:
9-10 “In Christ” - then if Christ is in you and God is
pleased with Christ, He is pleased with you.
On this Palm Sunday, Christ took our sins, paid the
debt and pleased the Father.
“The chastisement of our peace was upon Him.”
Simple faith in Jesus pleases the Father.
This faith of which I am speaking is not faith in a
process. The process that if you do this and this and
this you will yield your desired result.
Neither am I talking about faith in portion. Some tell
us that if we go through a process and don’t get our
desired result from God, its because we don’t have
enough faith. That is not what I’m talking about.
I am talking about faith in a person. The Jesus “who
is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
That person will never let you down. When life does
not go the way you want, and God does not
seemingly answer the way you want, you can always
trust Jesus.

Accounting Books
If you aren’t a professional, but need to keep track of your own expenses, you can buy some accounting books and try to teach yourself the basics. The skills needed to take care of your home, and your home business might be something you can handle. Some people choose to buy ledger accounting books to keep track of expenses and income, while others opt for software.
Software has a huge advantage over regular accounting books. If you have a basic understanding of what you are doing, you can learn how to put your information into the program, and it will do most of the work for you. It can also generate reports to let you know how you are doing. You can get reports for expenses, profit, operating costs, and anything else you may need to know. Software such as Peachtree Accounting comes with customer support.
If you really want to do this, you should buy some textbooks first, and get a grip on the basics. Accounting books can be found online as well as in many major bookstores. You can find more complicated books if you wish to learn everything there is about accounting, or you can buy simpler guides that will teach you what you need to know without going into too much detail. This is great if you want to keep an eye on things, but then will hand everything over to an accountant or tax preparer at the end of the year.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on accounting books and programs, you can look at your local library for books. You may also want to look through eBay or your local classified ads for people selling used books and used software. If you still feel lost, call your local college. They may offer simple and basic accounting courses for those with a home or small business.

Fitness Modeling and How to Make Your Dreams Come True
Many of the women, and even men, of today’s generation have at one point or another dreamed of being a fitness model. Many have actually taken considerable effort and time just to gain a place in the so called “fitness modeling world.”
Fitness modeling means having a great body, a body that you can be proud of and something that will make people’s heads turn the second time around. It revolves around tuning one’s physique to be more appealing and to be in the right shape. The ultimate purpose of this is attention. If you are noticed, then that is something. However, the kind and the quality of attention that you will get will matter a lot. The endeavor to be a fitness model does not only require a person to have a great shape and to be in a great health. It requires the total tuning of the individual – the body and the will.
The fitness modeling world is already crowded with aspirants and hopefuls. If you are serious about having a place in this seemingly too crowded arena, you have to be tough and must look straight into the facts. You need the right information and the right mindset.
A perfect body is the key, but it is not enough. It only counts little. You may have the most beautiful body, but this may not meet your expectations. One of the primary things that you will have to consider is the camera and the audience. If you have always projected a good image and if the lenses seem to love you, then you have an edge. You also have to consider something unique about you that might set you apart from the rest. Many people have seen themselves in success long before they have actually ventured out and tried it on the fitness modeling field, only to find out that they look like everybody else in the industry. So, it is always important that you have something really unique to boast, something that will make you remembered even in the midst of other models.
In the actual fitness modeling world, you will find that many of the seemingly small and trivial things that you used to ignore will also matter. How well do you take care of yourself? Very simple and seemingly unnoticeable things like your nails may count a lot. Loving yourself and taking care of your body is very important.
There are also a lot of small and simple skills that you must know. Proper grooming, the right taste and style in clothing, as well as proper hygiene, are important. The most necessary thing to being a fitness model is to have the right kind of personality. Everything that is within you will be reflected once you face the crowd and the camera, and that will define the entire you. Once you are there, you will be a mergence of your body and your soul.
If you have the spirit and the will, and if you know you are in the right path, then the fitness modeling world awaits you with all its glamour and excitement.
